RazorStudio, started in early 2001, is the home to creator George Panella known for his online comic creations “Tokyo High” and “Xamra” and his online subscription venture “WirePop”.
A firm believer of the independent creative market, George has been trying from day one to do what the name-brand companies have done for years. Create captivating, emotional and breath-taking works of entertainment. Be it as online comics, print or animations. Now, however, with powerful computers and the internet this is in the reach of anyone with a creative idea and a little patience.
With the launch of his largest site, WirePop has proven that a large brand is not needed to create great entertainment. Hosting many great independent online artists from all over the world sharing their stories to hundreds of readers a day.
George Panella continues to create stories and characters from his one-man “studio” with no end in sight.
George Panella’s Autobiography
Born in Dover New Jersey in the winter of 1976 I was an only child. I lived a pretty normal life until we moved to South Carolina when I was 11. My Father started working at a TV station. This is when I was introduced to TV Production and Computer graphics on an Amiga 500. After getting my own Amiga 500, I played with Deluxe Paint and Caligri’s 3d program.
When we moved back to New Jersey I got my first PC and started taking classes for Media Production and Computer graphics. I was learning about Photoshop on the Mac, Video Production at school and using Imagine 3d and surfing the net at home.
Later on I started doing print, and got a job at a local newsprint. I started making my own web pages around 1994 and saved up to buy LightWave 3d for the PC. The next big thing to happen was when I moved to Florida to attend Full Sail. There I got professional training in 3d, and computer graphics.
When I graduated I went back to NJ. For a year I did freelance web work, then got a job in Cherry Hill New Jersey. 6 Months after that I found a job back in Florida. I took that job and reuniting with my friends from Full Sail.
I worked there for 2 wonderful years. Made many friends, learned a lot and had tons o fun. But the company eventually hit hard times and had to let many people go, I included. So I had to move back to New Jersey (again) to get back on my feet.
In New Jersey I was working for a local web company while working on my projects at home. This is when I started on my online comics in earnest. First major event was when I was picked up to work with Modern Tales to publish Tokyo High. I later was inspired to start my own online subscription site with a manga style twist. Many months of hand coding and press releases WirePop was born. With WirePop came my new online comic Xamra.
After a family tragedy we sold our house and moved back to Florida (sounds like a broken record, eh).
So here I am (yet again) in sunny Florida. With my current online comics behind me I’m getting ready to work on my next set of projects.
Who knows what’s next.
Why the hell did you read this anyway? Hey, wake up. You’re sleeping aren’t you?
