With my second online comic (Xamra) complete I’m looking at what is next. I’ve spent the last 6 or 7 years working on online comics. My first was an earlier version of the Xamra story, but then I got to do a comic on Modern Tales called Tokyo High. Eventually, though, I ended up launching my own online comic site, WirePop, which is probably what most people know me for.
So now what? Well the funny thing is comics were never my real goal. This is not to say that I don’t enjoy making comics, but it wasn’t what I had planned to get into (neither was doing web design). For those that might remember my older sites (way back in the day) animation was my real love. Specifically 3d animation. Stuff like Final Fantasy VII Advent Children makes me drool with awe and inspiration. In fact I even went to school for 3d animation. However, as life goes I never was able to get anything going. As time went on I found myself doing web design, learning code like PHP and drawing comics.
In some respects I think it was because it is easier. I can make a comic page in 8 hours. Granted I’m not that good, but it’s still a lot less time then an animation. I kick myself though for never really doing what I always wanted to do.
Does this mean my next project will be an animation? It would sound like it I’m sure, but I really can’t say. As much as I would like to it still is a large thing to undertake.
So right now I’m just thinking mostly about my next “story” more then the medium I’ll do it in.
As always I have some new web site ideas in my mind and another new type of project I want to try out.
This is certainly not the end of me, and this site is proof of that. I’ll continue to manage WirePop as I have been and I’ll try to post here my continuing efforts in my new projects.
Hope you stick around to see what come.
